I am not much of a cook myself. Occasionally I will try to marinate salmon, that will go well, and then I will bake it and it will be stuck on the pan…great. I mostly specialize in creating new blends of granola with dried fruits, similar to the various packaged trail mixes, but mine are better because I know where I found everything I put in it! Other than the heating up of leftovers or baking cookies/cupcakes/muffins what I really love is exciting adventures in the kitchen with people who can truly whip up anything and it tastes great, because I am trying to learn to cook but it takes practice, practice, and PATIENCE! There are two chefs whom I have heard of my whole life from my Dad, Julia Child and Emerald Lagasse.

Well, I recently saw the trailer for an upcoming Meryl Streep and Amy Adams movie called “Julie & Julia”. I am SO EXCITED. It is coming to theatres on August 7, and I think it is going to rock our socks off. I love love love Meryl Streep, and who could be cuter than Amy Adams!

Not only is this movie going to be great, but there was a book before the movie and I am reading it right now! I want to have it read before I see the movie (I sometimes like to do that when there is a book) and I can’t put down this book, it is so funny and is written by Julie Powell who Amy Adam’s character is based off in the movie. It is a true story and a funny one!

Summer Parfait

I’m making this for work breakfast tomorrow morning!

Summer Berry Parfait w/Yogurt & Granola

INGREDIENTS

3/4 cup sliced strawberries
3/4 cup blueberries
1 (6 ounce) container vanilla yogurt
1 tablespoon wheat germ
1/2 banana, sliced
1/3 cup granola

DIRECTIONS

Layer 1/4 cup strawberries, 1/4 cup blueberries, 1/3 container yogurt, 1/3 tablespoon wheat germ, 1/3 of the sliced banana, and about 2 tablespoons of granola in a large bowl. Continue to build the parfait, repeating the layers until all of the ingredients are used completely.

Yum.

True Life- I’m an amateur blogger…

I have to admit I am not great with posting blogs, but I really want to work on that! Growing up I always bought ornate, colorful, recycled, you name it, journals, which I intended to fill with entries of my life, feelings, loves, etc.
All of those journals are now under my bed at my parents house with about 2-3 pages filled…sad day. So, I declare a fresh start on journaling today…through blogging! Why spend more on paper journals, when I can be trendy in this technological age and blog via ‘tha world wide web’.

rock climbing

n. The sport or activity of climbing sheer rock faces, especially by means of specialized techniques and equipment.

This has been a hobby of mine for about 3 years now, and for 2 years during my college years I worked at the rock climbing wall at the University Recreational Center.

I absolutely love this sport, it is great for males and females of all ages, and it completely works you out all over! Last night I went indoor climbing with some of my old staff members, and I hadn’t been climbing in 2 months, so I broke in a few blisters on my hands and my arms are wondering what in the world happened last night!? Soreness!

We went to Dallas Rocks located near the Galleria in Dallas. It is an awesome gym for lead climbing, top roping, and has bouldering problems that will make you scared of heights. This gym is challenging, but do-able. There is also a slide at the top of one of the walls that you get to slide down when you top out on a route, it’s the only way down!

Every little girl had their favorite pick of the Disney Princesses, such as Cinderella, Snow White, Arial, or Belle. Well, my princess didn’t have curly locks of brown like myself, she didn’t have a prince charming, and she didn’t roam in a picture perfect world like other princesses. I am referring to the classic Disney movie, Alice in Wonderland, released in the Summer of 1951.

I heard the most exciting news this morning when I was watching the news…Tim Burton, who i consider to be one of the most talented directors of all time, is using his gothic magic to recreate the story of Alice in Wonderland into a sequel film called ‘Wonderland‘, which is currently in production and is going to be released March of 2010. This sequel is sets the story 10 years since Alice first went down the rabbit’s hole, and she is now 17 years old and Burton is sending Alice down the rabbit hole once more! Exciting, right? Well, not only is the story going to blow you away, the cast for this this film are absolutely stellar.

First and foremost, Johnny Depp is in the movie. Thank god.

Mad Hatter

One of my favorite female actresses, Anne Hathaway is starring in the film as well, you have seen her in The Devil Wears Prada (personal favorite), Rachel Getting Married, Get Smart, and The Princess Diaries. I just adore Anne Hathaway, she reminds me of a modern day Audrey Hepburn.

The White Queen

The rest of the cast is going to be amazing as well, and I look forward to Mia Wasikowska who will be playing Alice. I can’t wait for Wonderland!

Alice and Rabbit’s Hole

Sidenote: When I was in 8th grade Theatre, we did the play Alice in Wonderland, and I was cast as Alice, go figure, and I wore a blonde wig. Random.
